Purpose The Retail and Business Banking Operations Technology team in Canada is seeking an experienced Software Engineer. Reporting to the Senior Manager Development, the incumbent will develop and support new and existing applications. The role involves all software lifecycle phases, from inception to support, including retiring legacy applications while adhering to the Bank's framework and policies. The incumbent will work with the Business and an agile team to document requirements, set project timelines, and outline resource needs, risks, and project scope. Accountabilities Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge. Create and provide products of exceptional quality, across all project phases, from requirements to post-implementation support. Assist with planning and execution of testing (unit, integration, and user acceptance). Ensure timely delivery of solutions. Identify enhancements to the core base product. Provide technical expertise and ownership of solutions. Recommend standards for systems architecture, application development, integration, data modeling, and testing. Collaborate with product owners, technology team, and colleagues, focusing on customer success. Review and ensure the quality and completeness of major project deliverables. Stay current on technological trends and understand the Division's business and technology strategies. Provide thought-leadership and solve complex business requirements. Mentor and train peers on key technology and functionality. Offer technical guidance and knowledge transfer to development staff. Support production and user acceptance testing for complex technical problems. Assist in recruiting qualified staff and provide input to performance appraisals. Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions. Reporting Relationships Primary Manager: Senior Manager Development Direct Reports: N/A Shared Reports (solid/dotted if applicable): N/A Dimensions Department: Canadian Banking Technology Business Unit support: RBBO, Canada Education / Experience / Other Information Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering, with at least 4 years of practical experience as a Software Engineer. Experience in analysis, design, development, testing and deployment of medium to large-scale enterprise solutions. Proficiency in Microsoft Power Platform or .NET Framework (C#) Knowledge of Microsoft Azure Technologies and Pega is an asset. Strong Object-Oriented design and coding skills. Highly analytical with an end-to-end perspective of decisions and anticipation of issues. Ability to manage tight and changing deadlines and priorities. Creative and flexible in identifying technical solutions for business problems. Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills for delivering proposals, providing user support, and collaborating with team members and other departments. Ability to quickly and independently develop advanced knowledge of solution architecture. Quick to master new methodologies, tools, platforms, and systems. Strong customer focus to discern client needs and enhance service scalability.
