Purpose Lead and oversees Global Engineering for Operations & Functions – Scotiabank Technology ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.
Accountabilities Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
Review requirements, specifications, and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback.
Create and implement detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans before product launches to ensure software runs smoothly and meets client's needs, while being cost effective.
Monitor debugging process results and define and execute corrective actions.
Track quality assurance metrics and create action plans accordingly.
Stay up to date with new testing tools and strategies.
Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.
Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.
Fosters a solid working relationship with all members in the QA organization.
Share knowledge and best practices across the organization.
Develop reusable automation scripts that will reduce cost, timelines and improve efficiencies across the organization.

Can be assigned to multiple projects at a time or asked to support other projects.
The team size is about 10 Quality Assurance Automation Engineers.
Project team size is between 1 and 3 Quality Assurance Automation Engineers Education / Experience / Other Information (include only those that are specific to the role) A degree in computer science, IT Business/Management or engineering related discipline is desirable.
1-3 years of demonstrable, practical hands-on experience as a Test Automation Engineer or Software developer.
Expertise in SQL, JAVA, Selenium, Serenity, Cucumber, and other automated testing tools are critical to the automation journey, working cohesively with manual testers and developers to produce nothing short of high-quality work in exciting high-profile projects to put quality products to market.
Proven work experience in software test automation.
Proven work experience in software quality assurance.
Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
Experience in writing clear, concise, and comprehensive test cases.
Experience with writing simple and complex SQL queries for data validation.
Hands-on experience with both white box and black box testing.
Hands-on experience with automated testing tools.
Solid knowledge of SQL and scripting.
Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process.
Experience with performance and/or security testing is a plus.
Demonstrable practical hands-on experience with Test Management tools like Jira-Xray, HP ALM, Mantis, etc.
Demonstrable practical hands working with project management tools like Jira.
Strong communication skills in both English and Spanish and a demonstrated ability to resolve escalated issues effectively.
Ability to deal with ambiguity in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple competing priorities.
Results focused innovator, passionate about the success of their team.
Willingness to travel internationally is required.
Working Conditions Detailed analytical work with constant pressure of operating schedules, multiple test environments and implementation deadlines is the norm.
Project implementation dates are critical.
It is necessary to keep management informed of project/release progress on an ongoing basis.
Hours of work may vary with project schedules and problems incurred during testing, flexibility is required to meet workload changes and deadlines - overtime is required.
Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.
Limited travel internationally.
