Transportation Assistant/Van Driver (11169)

The job of Van Driver is done for the purpose of transporting students over scheduled routes and/or to/from special excursions; ensuring vehicle operation is in safe operating condition; and ensuring safety of students during transport, loading and unloading from vans.
Essential Functions:
* Advises students and other passengers of appropriate behavior
* Assesses incidents, complaints, accidents and/or potential emergency situations
* Assists students and other passengers; attends meetings, trainings, etc.
* Cleans assigned vehicles, both interior and exterior; conducts emergency evacuation drills
* Drives school van/s
* Fuels assigned vehicle, (e.g. oil, water, fuel, etc.)
* Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections, (e.g. fluid levels, tire pressure, exterior condition, etc.)
* Prepares documents and reports, (e.g. field trip reports, incident reports, inspections records, passenger misconduct, mileage logs, student counts, etc.)
* Reports observations and/or incidents, (e.g. discipline, accidents, inappropriate social behavior, etc.)
* Responds to inquires, (e.g. students, parents, other school personnel, etc.)
* Supervises students and other passengers during transit
* Assists other personnel as may be required
Qualifications:
* Experience desired
* Alcohol and Drug Test
* Criminal justice fingerprint/background clearance
* Random Drug Testing
* Ability to read, write and communicate clearly in English
25 - 40 hours depending on route for 10 months.
