Plan A Technologies is looking for a talented Technical Artist/Animator to specialize in the technical authoring and optimizing of 2D assets for Unity and other game platforms. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in 2D animation tools like Spine, a deep understanding of Unity pipelines, and proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud. While the focus is on 2D, experience in 3D is highly regarded and adds flexibility to the role. You will play a critical part in bridging the gap between art and engineering, ensuring that assets are performant, visually polished, and seamlessly integrated into the game. JOB RESPONSIBILITY2D Asset Authoring & Animation: Create, prepare, and optimize 2D assets, including characters, environments, and effects, for game integration using tools like Spine and Adobe CC.Rigging & Animation: Develop efficient rigs for 2D characters and produce fluid, high-quality animations tailored to game mechanics and artistic vision.Unity Integration: Author, integrate, and test 2D assets in Unity, ensuring they meet both technical performance standards and creative goals.Pipeline & Workflow Management: Collaborate with developers to design streamlined asset creation, export, and implementation workflows.Optimisation: Optimize 2D assets for performance across multiple platforms while maintaining high visual fidelity.Collaboration with Teams: Partner with artists, animators, and developers to align assets with technical and aesthetic requirements.Shader & Material Creation: Design and implement 2D materials and effects using Unity's Shader Graph or similar tools to enhance the visual appeal.Documentation & Tools: Develop and document workflows, guidelines, and, if necessary, custom scripts to improve productivity and consistency.3D Support (Optional): Provide supplementary 3D support, including asset authoring, rigging, or animation.EXPERIENCE3+ years of experience as a Technical Artist/Animator, focusing on 2D games.Strong proficiency in Spine for rigging and animating 2D assets.Expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud tools, particularly Photoshop and Illustrator.Solid experience with Unity, including asset integration, animation systems, and optimisation techniques.Knowledge of game engine performance considerations specific to 2D games, including texture atlasing, draw calls, and sprite optimisation.Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset.Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.Initiative and drive to do great things.Preferred Skills:Experience with particle systems and 2D VFX creation.Familiarity with 3D tools like Blender or Maya (a plus, but not mandatory).Background in cross-platform asset optimisation, particularly for mobile games.Understanding of asset management systems, such as asset bundles or resource packaging.Familiarity with scripting (e.g., Python, C#) for tool development and pipeline automation.ABOUT THE COMPANY/BENEFITSPlan A Technologies is an American software development and technology advisory firm that brings top-tier engineering talent to clients around the world.
