Details of Position
Role Purpose:
- To maintain and enhance professional development and academic quality in the teaching center, through the management of in-house teacher development programme and support
- To promote and ensure quality teaching and effective learning of English
- To support the wider aims of British Council and its cultural relations mission
Accountabilities:
- Support British Council's global English strategy by:
- Planning, preparing and delivering high quality English language teaching that meets the needs of different customer groups, taking to account individual learning styles.
- Monitoring progress and providing regular feedback to help manage students' performance throughout the course, and actively promote learner autonomy.
- Contributing to the development, evaluation, and improvement of English language courses, materials and related services
- Ensuring teaching meets the standards expected in Teaching and Learning Reviews, the annual Academic Quality Plan and organisational expectations.
- Ensuring safeguarding and other guidelines are applied and upheld in line with standards and policy for the following areas:
- Safeguarding
- Equality, diversity and inclusion
- Health and safety

- Contract Type: Indefinite
- Contract Hours:
14 Hours a week. This role may require mornings or evenings and Saturday work
- Right to Work: The candidate must have the right to work in Bogota, Colombia.
Qualifications
Essentials
- Undergraduate degree (in any discipline)
- Cambridge CELTA or Trinity Certificate TESOL (global minimum standard)
Desirable
- Recognized diploma in EFL i.e. DELTA or Trinity Diploma
- Teaching Young Learners Extension Certificate
- Postgraduate Certificate in Education or B.Ed in primary or relevant subject
Work Experience:
Essentials
- A minimum of 6 months post-certificate i.e. CELTA or Trinity Certificate TESOL experience gained from full-time teaching
- Required CEFR C2 level or higher – a current IELTS 8.5 or Cambridge CPE
- You should have experience in teaching two or more of the following age groups:
- Very young learners <4 (400+ hours)
- Young learners aged 4 to 7 (400+ hours)
- Young learners aged 8 to 12 (400+ hours)
- Young learners aged 13 to 17 (400+hours)
- Adults aged 18+ (800+ hours)

- Salary - COP $ 71,378 (Hourly rate/hour) for CELTA and COP $ 78,510 (Hourly rate/hour) for DELTA
