Appointment type Permanent Work schedule Full-time Service Competitive Promotion potential 15 Supervisory status Yes Drug test Yes Financial disclosure Yes Announcement number HSI-12345174-MP-NV Control number 817639200 Duties As Supervisory Detention and Deportation Officer (Deputy Attache for Removal), at the full performance level you will perform the following duties: Serve as the Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) ICE Attaché, Office of International Affairs (OIA), for the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Be responsible for planning and organizing Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and ICE operations within the designated foreign areas of responsibility (AOR). Exercise direct oversight of the ERO Assistant Attaché for the Removal Office, sub-offices, and personnel in remote duty locations. Manage the law enforcement activities of ICE programs through subordinate supervisors who supervise enforcement and non-enforcement employees involved in performing activities such as foreign removals, case management, detention operations. Requirements Conditions of Employment You must be a U.S. citizen to apply for this position. You must successfully pass a background investigation. You must successfully pass a drug screen. Males born after 12/31/59 must certify registration with Selective Service. Time in Grade: Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade in the Federal service. Probationary Period: This is a full-time permanent position. Upon appointment to this position, you may be required to serve a one-year probationary period. Foreign Language: Proficiency of host country language may be required. Motor Vehicle Operation: The position requires operation of a motor vehicle, and maintenance of a driver's license acceptable to Department of State (DOS) and the host country. Administratively Uncontrollable Overtime (AUO): This position is eligible for AUO. Security Clearance: Individuals selected for this position should be able to obtain and maintain at a minimum Top-Secret clearance. Medical Requirements: You must be physically, emotionally, and mentally able to perform the duties of the position. Firearms Requirement: You will be required to carry a firearm while performing duties of this position. This position may require the incumbent to be reassigned to a different geographic location. Job requires physical strength and stamina due to long periods of surveillance, restraining suspects, and carrying heavy equipment. Qualifications You qualify for the GS-15 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-14 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as: Assisting in the direction and coordination of functions with Federal, or local agencies; Serving as an authoritative expert in enforcement or detention and deportation or removal operations; Performing administrative and human resource management functions; Providing informal feedback and periodically evaluating employee's performance. The initial tour for the Bogota, Colombia, Casablanca, Morocco, and Rome, Italy positions is three (3) years. The initial tour for New Delhi, India is two (2) years. This assignment may be terminated or extended at any time depending on the needs of the agency. National Service Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Current or Former Political Appointees: The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. Secondary Law Enforcement: This position is an approved Secondary Law Enforcement position. Previous experience in a primary (rigorous) law enforcement position is a prerequisite. Training Requirement: You must have successfully completed Basic Immigration Law Enforcement Training in accordance with 8 CFR 287.1(g) and other applicable agency policy. Firearms Requirement: You will be required to carry a firearm while performing duties of this position. Work Conditions: This job requires physical strength and stamina to perform such activities as conducting long periods of surveillance, pursuing and restraining suspects, and carrying heavy equipment.
