Purpose The Enterprise Content Solutions team is looking for a Software Engineer Specialist to work on various initiatives. This group leads transformation, architecture, development, and support for applications globally. Many high visibility transformative initiatives are underway/being planned in the department. This role will report into the Sr. Development Manager leading this department. Accountabilities Champions a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge. Maintain high standards of software quality within the team by establishing good practices and habits. Identify and encourage areas for growth and improvement within the team. Collaborate with other software developers, business analysts, and software architects to plan, design, develop, test, and maintain web- and desktop-based business applications built on Microsoft technologies. Participate in solution design discussions focused on scalability, design, and implementation best practices. Ensure software, programs, and applications are developed and/or configured to meet high availability, integrity, and reliability requirements. Work with other developers and business analysts on breaking down, scoping, and estimating tasks. Deliver code for development, modernization, and integration to meet business needs. Proactively partner with business line representatives to drive improved technology solutions that support business strategy. Work closely with onshore and offshore vendor partners to ensure that solutions being delivered are of necessary quality and align with project goals. Provide support for the Bank's applications as required. Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be incorporated into day-to-day activities and decisions. Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk. Education / Experience / Other Information 3+ years of recent experience working with Java/J2EE and .NET, with Java 11+ experience preferred. Familiarity with multiple external Java frameworks is a plus (Spring Boot, Log4J, etc.) working on data transformation. Experience in cloud technologies (Azure, GCP). 3+ years of experience with design, code, and deployment of REST and SOAP services, APIs, and web services tools such as POSTMAN. 3+ years of experience with PL/SQL and RDBMS, with Microsoft SQL (2014+) preferred. 5+ years of experience using Linux or Unix, including related scripting, as well as standard encryption tools such as PGP. 3+ years of experience working with modern continuous deployment pipelines – TFS, Azure DevOps, Maven, Gradle, Git, Jenkins, etc. is a strong plus. Experience or knowledge of front-end frameworks like JS, React, or Angular is a strong plus. Experience or knowledge of monitoring tools: Dynatrace, Splunk is a strong plus. Experience with automated testing and code review tools is a strong plus. Strong configuration skills, very comfortable working with complex data pipelines. Familiarity with major transport protocols: FTP, SFTP, and other SSH connectivity tools. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to see the technical overview of the system and impact analysis of changes to the overall system. A recognized undergraduate degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or related discipline. B1 level of English.
