This role focuses on the Training and Development Manager, a product that enables institutions to manage course catalogs, course registration and learner dashboards to enable a high-quality experience for students. We're looking for software engineers to join our team that empowers schools and students to have a more engaged and fulfilling experience within higher education institutions. You will be working with a cross-functional team that participates in the full lifecycle of product development from discovery to development to deployment. We thrive in curiosity and in experimenting with new techniques and are looking for someone who is motivated by delivering value.

At Anthology, software engineers will learn to apply their software development expertise as members of a cross-functional team. Our teams usually consist of Product Managers, UX Designers, and Developers of varying interests to create a Full Stack team. Software Engineers learn and practice all aspects of software development including (but not limited to) understanding user feedback, developing the software, testing, CI/CD practices,
DevOps, and ongoing maintenance. In this role, learning is primary focused around depth of technical understanding and team practices.

Primary responsibilities will include:

- Designing and implementing solutions for the areas of the application owned by the team
- Testing your own code and reviewing the code of others
- Understanding and demonstrating Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) practices
- Implementing security best practices throughout the development and deployment lifecycle
- Being willing to respond to the unique challenges of delivering and maintaining cloud-based software including troubleshooting live production environments, minimizing downtime, and responding to client-reported issues
- Ensuring proper team and inter-team communication practices

- Contributing to process improvement initiatives on the team

The Candidate:

Required skills/qualifications:

- 2-5 years of experience designing, writing, and deploying scalable software using infrastructure as a code
- Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and demonstrated proficiency with API concepts and design
- Excellent Object-Oriented design and coding skills
- Experience with server-side technologies such as JavaScript
- Experience with front-end libraries and frameworks such as React
- Experienced with relational and/or NoSQL databases
- Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to use both to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Fluency in written and spoken English at CEF B2 level or above
- Quick learner with strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Experience creating unit tests,
and being an active participant in code reviews
- Ability to work with a team of engineers on cross-functional agile projects

Preferred skills/qualifications:

- Experience with cloud-based hosting solutions (AWS) and developing APIs
- Experience developing JavaScript; TypeScript preferred
- Experience with continuous delivery and infrastructure as code
- Experience with event-driven microservice architectures
