Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization: In the dynamic business environment, this position is responsible for creating and maintaining sustainable, accurate and efficient Accounting processes for the legal entity directing all Accounting activities and functions to ensure the integrity of the financial records. This includes, but is not limited to, project Accounting lead, Accounting process creation and review, internal and external audit liaison for Accounting topics, oversight of financial records, month-end closing, financial statement preparation in compliance with international and local accounting standards and statutory requirements, and liaison between Finance and the Global Business Services (GBS) function.
Through engaging with our GBS (Global Business Services) team, the role seeks to continuously identify opportunities for further collaboration.
Key Responsibilities: Manage the Accounting function by taking a key leadership role in the day-to-day management of the team, defining performance targets for the team members, and monitoring team member performance and development.Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing of the general ledger to ensure timely and accurate financials.Prepare complex and/or ad hoc journal entries, as required.Manage internal and external audit deliverables, delegating responsibility as necessary.Maintain financial security by adhering to internal controls.Drive application of Accounting policies to ensure compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards and local requirements.Partner with, and provide accounting expertise to, other finance teams and projects.Act as the primary GBS Liaison – responsible for market management of any GBS standardization initiatives and other globally driven projects.Understand and ensure the accuracy of all areas under GBS teams management and provide market expertise as requested.Support Group Taxes to ensure compliance with local tax laws and regulations, including the timely remittance of the different returns/declarations and payment.Facilitate and strengthen business relationships between finance and other business areas.Identify and implement process improvements to drive efficiency and effectiveness of the Accounting function.Analyze financial statements and highlight significant variances. Financial ad-hoc analysis in close collaboration with (Sr) Finance Director.Constantly challenge the norm and ensure development and delivery of accurate and relevant financial solutions.Oversee and maintain the ERP system and its interfaces with other applications.Key Relationships: Senior management team in the local marketGlobal and Market Finance teamsInternal and external auditorsKnowledge Skills and Abilities: Excellent knowledge in finance and accounting.Ability to coach, manage, align, motivate, and develop direct reports.Ability to interact, effectively present information and respond to questions from stakeholders, senior management, cross functional business leaders, peers, vendors, and customers.Ability to understand the business process and to think strategically.Strong follow-up investigation skills to find discrepancies in reconciliations and make necessary changes to the general ledger.High attention to details and accuracy.Ability to manage effectively in a team environment, coordinating multiple tasks in parallel, many times with conflicting priorities and tight deadlines.Ability to complete tasks while functioning in a stressful environment.Identify and propose opportunities for improvement.Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications: 7+ years of broad-based operational finance experience with progressive responsibility.Experience in local and International Accounting Standards and Tax regulations.Fluency in written & spoken English.AT ADIDAS WE HAVE A WINNING CULTURE.
