OverviewThe purpose of this position is to provide team leadership and ensure efficient and effective execution of domestic and international transactions.
This role's primary focus is on contract performance, inventory control, and risk mitigation - ensuring accurate execution, customs clearance, logistics management, payment performance, funding assurance, and safe transfer/release of title for international, trade finance, and domestic trade flows.
This position requires experience and a deep understanding of risk management, logistics, and trade economics for physical international commodity transactions.
ResponsibilitiesThe Team Lead - International Trade Controls & Operations Coordinator will lead and oversee the team responsible for all trade execution and trade finance related activities.
Primary responsibilities will include:
Providing leadership to an International Trade Operations teamTraining and developing new team members and coordinating cross-trainingDriving continuous process improvement through automation, the development of Power BI reporting, and input in designing new system functionalityLeading problem resolution and assisting with conflict management as neededOverseeing and performing trade control and funding activities to ensure safe transfer and release of title documentation for international, finance, and domestic trade flowsManaging daily shipment milestones and monitoring trade notificationsInstructing, collecting, and reviewing international trade documentation to ensure payment performance and nationalization of commodities at destinationOverseeing and executing Trade Settlement activitiesFormulating Accounts Payable Pre-Payment AdvancesCommunicating daily with Customs Brokers, Logistics Operators, Customers, Vendors, Truckers, and Warehouse facilitiesMonitoring monthly inventory reconciliation and adjustments per business line requirementsMonitoring aging payables and receivable balances and escalating as appropriateThis list of responsibilities may not be all-inclusive and can include others as needed.
QualificationsRequirements:
Bachelor's Degree in International Business, Finance, Supply Chain, Economics, or a business-related field, or 5+ years of relevant international commodity trade experience5+ years of experience in international trade operations or executionExperience overseeing and managing a physical trade operations teamExcellent verbal and written communication skillsDemonstrated ability to assess risk and mitigate/problem-solve with a sense of urgencyStrong attention to detail, accuracy, and work ethicBilingual – Spanish and EnglishFlexible and adaptable with an ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
