Position: Senior FERC Regulatory Attorney This role will report to VP, Regulatory Law, and based in Washington, DC. The preference is for the attorney to be located in Washington, DC, but remote locations will be considered. Role and Responsibilities: Manage federal state energy regulatory and compliance matters for the Company and provide legal advice and counsel regarding FERC state energy regulatory and legal issues, including litigation, compliance, enforcement, and ongoing advisory matters. Manage FERC and state regulatory due diligence for target projects, identification of regulatory and commercial risks. Initiate FERC rulemakings as may be desired to enable commercial adoption of the Company's innovative new technology. Stay abreast of all FERC proceedings and make recommendations regarding Company involvement. Represent the Company in FERC regulatory proceedings as needed. Review, negotiate and draft interconnection and transmission service agreements. Obtain FERC Market-based rate authorizations. Manage FERC interventions, protests, and other adversary proceedings. Maintain ongoing FERC and state regulatory compliance filings and requirements. Manage FERC compliance programs and processes, through training, advice and counsel, and preparation of compliance reports. Provide analysis on energy efficiency, renewable energy, rate design, cost allocation, retail electricity and natural gas markets. Skills and Experience: JD with strong academic background, active and in good standing with at least one U.S. State bar. A minimum of 15 years' experience in an energy regulatory practice including experience as a regulatory or project finance associate at a law firm; in-house experience preferred. FERC State utility commission experience required; familiarity with FERC state utility commissions desired. Extensive experience in the electric power industry; renewable energy experience preferred. Experience negotiating project development and project finance transactions. Excellent strategic and analytical skills, strong communication and presentation skills, and ability to work independently and to collaborate on teams. Ability to identify the right issues and ask the right questions, to understand the Company's business objectives, and to explain the "why" of a legal question. Ability to juggle and manage multiple priorities. Strong organizational and prioritization skills. A high-energy individual who inspires others through clarity and conviction of a shared vision.
