Position Overview The Senior Environmental Consultant will be with the Environmental, Social, and Governance | Sustainable Investment Advisory team in Bogotá, Colombia, providing environmentally sensitive and sustainable solutions to unique engineering challenges. The role will work to continue developing and growing the business in Colombia and the Americas South Geography, and work in close collaboration with the Advisory team in San Francisco, Houston, New York, and the Americas Region. The Sr. Environmental Consultant will be involved with our Global Lenders' Environmental and Social Advisory practice. The ESG|SIA advisory team is a center of excellence at Arup, supporting the acceleration of sustainable, resilient, and inclusive investments, securing access to sustainable infrastructure. This position will be part of Arup's global multi-disciplinary Advisory team characterized by deep sustainability expertise. We apply international sustainability frameworks to address our client's burning questions and develop inventive, creative, and practical solutions that finally will allow society to thrive and deliver more sustainable infrastructure. As a Senior Environmental Consultant, you will lead our mission to help shape a better world and to support our clients' sustainable investments. You will work independently to evaluate, select, and apply domestic and international ESG standards related to pollution prevention, circular economy, decarbonization and climate change mitigation, sustainable finance and investments, among others. This role is based in Bogota, Colombia PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR RESUME IN ENGLISH Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, environmental science, or a related environmental consulting profession required. Minimum 6 years of professional experience in infrastructure projects (roads, energy, rail, ports, etc.) required. Experience working with multilateral agencies (IFC, CAF, IDB, etc.) required. Must possess excellent written, verbal, presentation, and communication skills with colleagues and clients of all levels in English and Spanish required. Responsibilities: Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following: Evaluate, select, and apply domestic and international E&S (environmental and social) standards, particularly those related to IFC Performance Standards (PS) 1, 3, and 6, as well as Equator Principles-IV, focusing on E&S risks and impacts, pollution prevention, and biodiversity, alongside domestic and international H&S (health and safety) standards. Produce and review reports related to E&S Due Diligence and monitoring processes in Colombia and Latin America. Consult with local regulatory agencies on scope and impact of projects when vital. Attend meetings with clients to address their needs and discuss environmental issues. Project lead and meet client expectations, handle collaborators, deliver quality outcomes. Conduct and coordinate site visits while handling partners (client, communities, etc.). Support business development efforts by assisting in responding to RFPs, identifying potential opportunities with client organizations, participating, and speaking at industry conferences, and staying informed about market trends. Curiosity about leading and mentoring teams. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in developing, reviewing, or implementing Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs), Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMPs), Environmental and Social Management Systems. Experience managing environmental and social impacts and risks in line with international standards (IFC, Equator Principles, etc.) on construction sites or operational assets. Experience developing business, preparing proposals, etc. Line management experience. PMI accreditation.
