Position Overview : We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to manage the day-to-day financial transactions and reporting for a diverse portfolio of clients.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all financial records are accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with relevant regulations.
You will also prepare management reports, reconcile inter-company balances, and assist in the preparation of annual financial reports.
Bookkeeping: Maintain accurate and current financial records for diverse client portfolios.
Record day-to-day financial transactions, including accounts payable and receivable.
Perform bank reconciliations, manage supplier statements, handle credit card transactions, and reconcile inter-company balances.
Ensure timely and accurate payments and collections for clients.
Management Reporting: Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
Provide financial analysis and insights to support informed decision-making for clients.
Customize and deliver reports per client requirements and deadlines.
Trial Balance Preparation: Prepare accounts up to the trial balance, ensuring all entries are accurately documented .
Assist with annual financial report preparation and provide supporting documentation to accountants.
VAT Management: Prepare and submit VAT returns in accordance with UK VAT regulations.
Reconcile VAT accounts and accurately record VAT-related transactions.
Stay informed of VAT regulation updates and advise clients on VAT matters as needed.
Inter-Company Reconciliation: Perform regular reconciliations of inter-company balances.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies in inter-company accounts, ensuring balanced transactions.
Client Interaction: Maintain ongoing communication with clients, collecting necessary financial data and updating them on account statuses.
Address client queries related to bookkeeping, VAT, and management reports.
Provide clients with best practices in bookkeeping and financial management.
Payroll Management: Process payroll accurately, including salary calculations, statutory deductions, and timely HMRC submissions.
Maintain payroll records, distribute payslips, and manage payroll reports.
Assist clients with pension auto-enrolment and ensure compliance with employment laws and payroll regulations.
Leadership & Workflow Management: Take ownership of the bookkeeping workflow, managing timelines and deliverables.
Lead, support, and mentor team members, ensuring quality and efficiency in bookkeeping practices.
Requirements Proven hands-on experience as a bookkeeper, preferably in an accountancy firm or managing multiple client accounts.
Strong understanding of UK VAT regulations and inter-company reconciliations.
Proficiency in bookkeeping software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks) and MS Excel.
Ability to prepare accounts up to the trial balance and generate comprehensive management reports.
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build and manage client relationships.
Practical, hands-on experience in bookkeeping (not solely coursework-based).
