Then you might be the one we are looking for. About the roleAs a Programme Officer, your main responsibilities will include managing one or more projects in the Latin America department for Colombia.
This involves planning, implementing, monitoring, and reporting on project activities based on targets and agreements with donors, as well as adhering to CRD standards and procedures.
A primary focus will be on the security and protection of Human Rights Defenders (HRDs).
Additionally, you will coordinate activities, reporting, and administrative matters with Swedish and Colombian civil society organizations to report on the progress of ongoing projects.
You will also identify, assess, and propose new activities and partnerships relevant to the local and regional context.
Additionally, you will monitor and analyze the human rights situation in Colombia and contribute to the advocacy work of Civil Rights Defenders.
The role offers great variety, including tasks such as: Take responsibility for managing one or more of Civil Rights Defenders Latin America projects in Colombia.Organise the work related to trainings in human rights, security management and other activities for Civil Rights Defenders' partners in Colombia with the DD.Manage, evaluate and report on all aspects of the project to donors.Contribute and take initiatives in the continuous fundraising work of the Latin America department.Contribute with ideas and experiences related to the implementation of other projects within the Latin America department and Civil Rights Defenders in general.Conduct human rights activities with partners with a main focus on security and protection of HRDs at risk in Colombia.Initiate, provide advice on and participate in advocacy actions.Initiate and participate in communications activities and media work.Coordinate activities, reporting and administrative matters with Colombian and international CSOs involved in the projects.Travel frequently inside Colombia and possibly trips to CRD the Civil Rights Defenders headquarters in Stockholm, Sweden.Be the focal security point for the Latin America department with headquarters, and strengthen internal security practices within the team.About youAs a person, you adapt to changing circumstances and make positive use of the opportunities it presents.

To be suitable for this role you have: A Master's degree in Law, Political Science, International Relations, Human Rights or similar.Five years of working experience in Colombia with human rights and/or civil society, peacebuilding processes, and community work.Experience in security and protection within the field of human rights, focusing on Human Rights Defenders (HRDs) at risk.Experience from project management within civil society organizations, including administrative skills.Commendable knowledge of the socio-political context, current developments, civil society sector and human rights situation in Colombia.Advanced capacity in cooperating with individuals, organizations and state actors in complicated national and international settings.Experience in project design and strategic planning.Experience in the development of actions with intersectionality approaches, gender perspectives, and do no harm principles with vulnerable communities.Proven experience in facilitating workshops and training sessions on security and protection for local organizations and community leaders.Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish.Experience in working with MS Office 365 tools especially Word, Excel and Teams effectively.It is a merit if you also have: Experience in different aspects of security work and risk management: digital security, risk analysis, security management.Experience in organizing and conducting human rights trainings.Advanced knowledge in IT tools, like spreadsheets, website builders, databases.Experience in managing European Union projects.Experience in traveling to sensitive areas inside Colombia.About the employmentThis is a full-time permanent employment, starting as soon as possible.
