Identify and evaluate new suppliers and maintain strong relationships with existing vendors to secure competitive pricing, quality products, and on-time delivery.
Negotiate favorable terms and conditions with suppliers, including price, delivery schedules, and payment terms.
Inventory Control: Manage inventory levels to ensure sufficient stock of medical supplies while minimizing excess inventory and associated costs.
Implement and maintain inventory forecasting systems to optimize stock levels and prevent shortages or overstock situations.
Monitor usage trends and adjust ordering practices based on demand.
Compliance & Quality Assurance: Ensure that all purchased medical supplies comply with industry regulations, standards, and company policies.
Work closely with the quality assurance team to verify the quality of products received and resolve any discrepancies with suppliers.
Maintain records of all purchasing transactions and ensure adherence to internal audit requirements.
Budgeting & Cost Control: Develop and manage purchasing budgets for medical supplies and equipment.
Monitor and analyze purchasing expenses, seeking opportunities to reduce costs without compromising quality or availability.
Prepare regular reports on purchasing activities, including cost savings, supplier performance, and inventory status.
Supervise and mentor the purchasing team, providing guidance and training on best practices, procurement strategies, and compliance matters.
Collaborate with other departments (such as finance, operations, and sales) to ensure smooth coordination of procurement activities and alignment with company goals.
Market Research & Trend Analysis: Stay up to date with industry trends, new technologies, and regulatory changes that may impact purchasing strategies or supply chain logistics.
Conduct market research to identify new suppliers, products, and innovations that can improve business operations.
Identify and mitigate risks related to the supply chain, including potential disruptions in the delivery of critical medical supplies.
Develop contingency plans for supply shortages, price fluctuations, or other procurement challenges.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
5+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management, preferably within the medical supply or healthcare industry.
Strong knowledge of medical supply regulations, product standards, and industry best practices.
Proficiency in procurement software, inventory management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess market trends and supplier performance.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
