Purpose The team: Working with various stakeholders, the Cloud Engineering team, under Global Technology Enterprise Platform (GTEP) - Global Platform Engineering, will build hybrid cloud products including detailed design, build, operational transition, and product lifecycle management across the enterprise. Cloud products follow infrastructure patterns, frameworks, and standards from GTEP EARB Architecture. Enabling enterprise-wide adoption of innovative hybrid cloud products (like automated Infra/backup/storage services, software defined Data Center etc…) to improve business application agility and competitiveness in a cost-effective manner. The role: Reporting to the Principal Engineer, Cloud Engineering, you will play a critical part in the design, deployment, and operation of Scotiabank's Private Cloud enterprise infrastructure services, including various HCI solutions, VMware vRealize Suite, vSphere, vSAN, HCX, NSX-T, Cohesity, Google Cloud VMware Engine (GCVE), etc. You will work with technical & business subject matter experts on medium to large, technically complex, and moderately risky projects to ensure proposed solutions meet the requirements of the business and to design infrastructure that is in line with Bank and divisional standards, best practices, roadmaps, and sustained support structures while meeting business goals and considering technology trends. When required, non-standard office working hours for scheduled implementations or while on rotational 24x7 on-call support. Accountabilities Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge. Manage, transition, maintain Private Cloud and various HCI solutions on-prem and in the public cloud (like Dell VxRail, Dell Powerflex, Nutanix, GCVE), vSphere Virtualization, vRealize Suite management components, GCVE based IaaS and cloud/on-prem backup solutions. Provide Level 3 support & vendor escalations for transitioned services. Excel in the development of technical documentation of configuration and operational procedures for service operations teams (build & runbooks) & technical specifications. Contribute to implementation planning. Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be incorporated into day-to-day activities and decisions. Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk. Education / Experience / Other Information Excellent communication (verbal/written/presentation) skills to both a business and technical audience. At least 5+ years of hands-on technical working experience with the architectural and/or deployment and/or operational support of VMware vSphere Hypervisor. At least 5+ years of hands-on technical working experience with Microsoft Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 administration and/or Red Hat Linux administration 7.x/8.x/9.x. At least 2+ years of hands-on experience with VMware vRealize suite (including vRealize Automation, vRealize Operation Manager, vRealize Log Insight, etc.) and/or VMware Cloud Foundation on premise as well as in GCVE/GCP. At least 2+ years of hands-on technical working experience with deployment and/or operational support of Dell VxRail and/or Powerflex hyperconverged clusters or Nutanix HCI solutions. Hands-on technical working experience with backup from products like Cohesity and/or Rubrik and/or Veeam. Disaster recovery and enterprise data replication technology experience, like VMware Site Recovery Manager or other similar solutions. Hands-on technical working experience with Scripting (VMware PowerCLI, REST API scripting, PowerShell & Python, Backup automation). Technical working experience with storage from products like NetApp NAS and/or Dell EMC and/or Hyper Converged Virtual SAN. Hands-on technical working experience with Networking technologies and operational experience. Excellent customer relationship skills. Completion of a post-secondary education in Computer Science, Engineering or in a related technology-based stream.
