University Staff Description University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus Department: Emergency Medicine Job Title: Principal Information Sciences Professional Position: #00827714 - Requisition: #34961 Job Summary: The C3 Global Trauma Network conducts innovative, collaborative, federally-funded research on severe physical injuries (e.g., physical trauma from gunshots, car crashes, etc).
We generate high-quality evidence to improve early resuscitation of civilian and military populations alike.
We have a special focus on improving patient outcomes in resource-constrained settings - our current focus is in South Africa.
Our research involves trauma care provided in ambulances, emergency rooms, intensive care units, and operating rooms.
The C3 Network is funded by US federal research grants, and we have a track record of over 100 scientific publications and conference presentations.
Examples of current projects include: blood products and drugs to save lives in dangerous bleeding; care of patients with traumatic brain injuries; strategies to avoid wound infections; and innovative care for penetrating chest trauma.
Our discoveries in these areas will propel forward the field of trauma care and help reduce death and disability worldwide.
Principal Information Sciences Professionals utilize applied or computational mathematical analyses for a wide array of different applications and to solve complex data-related problems in health.
This position requires strong experience with data coding, data programming, data cleaning, data manipulation, and database management.
This position requires familiarity and experience with public health, clinical or epidemiological database research, preferably in emergency or trauma care.
This data analyst/programmer/data manager position will work mostly independently, with light supervision from the Principal Investigator, PhD biostatisticians, and Program Manager.
The successful candidate will assist the team with: coding and programming; data management; data cleaning; design of studies, data collection instruments, and research tools; plan and conduct analysis of primary and/or secondary health data; and assist with manuscript and presentation preparation on a variety of trauma-related projects.
The job is in-person and duties will be performed in the U.S. from office buildings on the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, CO.
Key Responsibilities: Collaborate closely with, and support, Principal Investigator, Co-Investigators, Biostatisticians, other data analysts, and stakeholders in the area of data analysis Perform scientifically rigorous data management and analyses of observational and interventional health data Write code and programs in SAS (preferred), R, or both (most preferred) to statistically analyze data collected for various research projects Manage complex research databases Manage data files derived from data collection or obtained from secondary data sources Consult with investigators on the design, implementation, and analysis of research projects Support the writing of manuscripts, reports, abstracts, etc. Maintain project documentation to ensure all team members have access to current, accurate materials (meeting summaries or project materials) Manage data processes, procedures, and workflows for the team Identify training opportunities for staff and coach/supervise junior staff and/or learners in data analytics and data processes.
