Purpose Contributes to the overall success of the GBS Retail and Small Business Collections ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed/delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.
Reporting to the MIS Manager, you will be responsible for building the architecture to deliver highly reliable MIS to drive collections strategies and actions across the International Banking division.
You are an analytical individual with excellent communication skills; you possess initiative and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. You are also responsible for managing activities for the production and tracking of KPIs and statistics for follow-up and impact analysis of the different Collections strategies.
Accountabilities Champions a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.Assist with the design of applications & reports and ensure automated data collection from multiple sources/report generation processes to make it faster and better.Design reports and scorecards to measure, analyze, improve, and control collections performance across international banking, providing best-in-class scorecards to benchmark internally and externally operations and portfolio Key Performance Indicators.Perform analytics on Collections and Recovery trends and causes; lead the MIS team to embrace the regional "One Best Way" approach.Identify best practices and replicate them across Collections & Recovery Hubs.Ability to turn data into actionable and measurable information, knowledge, intelligence, and wisdom.Monitor performance of divisional and local initiatives through the analysis of account and payment data and activity and performance data.Compare data from various systems for consistency and work with team members to resolve any discrepancies.Ensure the distribution of accurate reports in appropriate formats in a timely manner.Contribute to the budgeting and reforecasting process as needed.Contribute to fulfill divisional reporting needs including metric standardization, code development, report design, and production under a continuous improvement framework.Program reports leveraging SQL, SAS, and other platforms to ensure automation and availability as needed.Build and maintain an effective local collections data management process to acquire, clean, transform, store, and present data, verifying the accuracy of information as per the original source.Perform other duties as assigned.Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.Champion a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive work environment.Reporting Relationships Primary Manager: Manager MISDirect Reports: N/AShared Reports: N/A Dimensions Operates independently day-to-day and receives direction from the VP, Collections, and liaises with IB/Local Technology as needed. High level of autonomy required in assessing day-to-day issues to maximize efficiency and optimize costs.Generates value from data mining, high capacity to deliver insights related to data findings; also, ability to build easy-to-follow and understand presentations at the executive level.Planning ability to manage different projects simultaneously.High communication skills at management level.Number of countries supported: +9 countries as of Jan 2024 (ScotiaGBS Hub); ScotiaGBS hub currently has ~800 FTE.Product mix: mortgages, SPLs, credit cards, and small business.Growth markets with target increase in product mix; Collections/IT project work spans cross-border operations and involves collection system migration as well as ongoing continuous improvement.Education / Experience / Other Information Experience: 1+ year of experience in data management or data architecture, with familiarity and comfort in handling large data.The following specific skills and knowledge requirements are applicable to the job:
Sound understanding of various modeling techniques and comfort conducting various testing independently.Strong knowledge of statistical techniques and proven ability to employ these to analyze large sets of data.Ability to effectively utilize relational databases and SQL queries for data analysis.Proficiency in construction and executing distributed queries from a variety of databases/sources is required.Hands-on programming skills, particularly in statistical and database modeling tools (SQL, SAS, R, Python, VBA, MATLAB, Angoss Knowledge Studio, or similar). Ability to adapt to various programming languages and environments.Strong analytical & mathematical background.High ability to generate data-based insights.Business intelligence reporting tools, i.e., SAS, Business Objects, Power BI.Negotiation and analytical skills.High skills in time planning and prioritization.Ability to take initiative & work independently.Knowledge of Dialer Campaign strategies.Organizational and motivation skills and the ability to prioritize/delegate.Bilingual – Spanish and English Speaking.Working knowledge of retail credit products.A degree in statistics, computer science, commerce, or related discipline.Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Access, Excel, VBA is a plus.Knowledge of SAS is a plus.
