Forte Group has an open position for a qualified Software Engineer who will be responsible for a demanding and rewarding variety of duties related to working on enhancing existing systems utilizing Metal C and Assembler on z/OS. You should be independent and an enthusiastic team player, have strong problem-solving and analytical skills, and close attention to details. Our product and engineering team owns an enterprise-class software product that enables job scheduling and workflow orchestration automation across applications, systems, and infrastructure. The entire product ecosystem consists of multiple applications tightly integrated with each other and used to orchestrate complex IT workflows, optimize workload automation activities, provide centralized management of schedules, collect analytics, and stream data related to the software operations. The team owns the z/OS Agent application developed with Java. This application is part of a large-scale product; this particular agent is installed and runs in the operating system and maintains remote connectivity with the main (core) engine application. The z/OS Agent evolution is currently in the maintenance phase; however, we still have numerous installations at customer sites and receive requests for improvements. Team structure and Workflow The entire team is international and distributed across Poland, Ukraine, Latam, and the United States, with colleagues in Germany and other European countries as well. The engineering team consists of 2x end-to-end Feature Teams working on the product functionality, and a dedicated Test Automation team. Teams use Jira to manage their backlog and to prioritize work items, and documentation is hosted in Confluence. Meetings and interpersonal communication run via Slack and Zoom. We're following the Scrum process with 2-week iterations and practicing the Agile Way of Working in close, day-to-day collaboration with each other.
