Faculty Description University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus Department: Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases Job Title: Infectious Diseases Division Head, Open Rank (Associate/Professor) Position #00754744 - Requisition #33531 Job Summary: The Department of Medicine has an opening for a physician-scientist to serve as the Head of the Division of Infectious Diseases.
The Division Head is responsible for full program development and oversight, including the Division's clinical, educational, and research program activities.
Mentoring junior faculty and fellows, supporting quality improvement initiatives, integrating infectious disease services among the hospitals, clinical growth, and continued development of clinical translational research related to infectious disease are notable priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure the highest quality and national visibility of the Division's patient care, education research, other scholarly/academic activities, and community outreach programs. Promote the Departmental priorities of interdisciplinary program development, physician-scientist career development, diversity of its workforce, and integrated program development with its affiliates. Assure the mentorship of trainees and faculty with the goals of career development and progression toward promotion. Recruit, retain, and academically develop faculty in the Division. Administer the Division in a fiscally responsible manner within university policies. Personally participate in regularly scheduled meetings of the Department of Medicine's Division Heads and other ad hoc Departmental meetings. Work positively and collaboratively with the University of Colorado Hospital, other affiliated hospitals, the School of Medicine, and the Anschutz Medical campus leadership to foster the growth and development of the multiple missions of the Division. Support, develop, and provide leadership for infectious disease initiatives and innovation within the department, school, and the healthcare system. Demonstrate a willingness to work with diverse students, fellows, and colleagues, and mentor diverse students and junior colleagues. Have the opportunity to develop and implement new programs that address the research and clinical skills required but will also help in the implementation of approaches to mitigate burnout, a critical problem in academic medicine Develop performance metrics for faculty. Support community providers through education and consultation.
Work Location: Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 3-4 days per week on the Anschutz Medical campus located in Aurora, Colorado.

A history of federally funded basic or translational research or experience with large, multicenter clinical trials or outcomes research is desirable.
A record of recruiting, developing, and retaining clinicians and investigators is crucial. Healthcare administrative leadership - Accomplished administrative leadership experience in a complex academic institution.
Knowledge of the financial complexities, payer models, and associated reimbursement in providing high-quality, cost-effective specialty healthcare.

Reviewing the Division's vision, plans, and activities while adjusting to meet evolving expectations of academic and clinical partners and institutional goals. Collaborating and influencing - The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and transparent communication skills, as well as the ability to successfully engage, unify, build, and sustain relationships with diverse constituents (e.g., Dean, chairs, faculty, staff, hospital administration, residents, community stakeholders, and other external representatives).

The candidate will demonstrate this by: Facilitating discussions that enable people to collaborate, promoting collaboration across multiple parties through a transparent and action-oriented leadership style. Anticipated Pay Range: The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE: * Associate Professor: $300,000-$325,0000 per year
* Professor: $320,000- $340,000 per year
