About this position We are looking for an Investment Management Officer professional for the Infrastructure and Energy Division (IEN) of the Investment Operations Department (INO) of IDB Invest in Lima or Bogota. INO is responsible for clients' and partners' engagement for the origination, structuring, closing, and supervision of transactions and projects that meet our requirements. The Team: Our Infrastructure and Energy Division (IEN) encompasses four main sectors: Transport, Water and Sanitation, Energy, and Social Infrastructure (Education & Health). The Division is currently organized into three regions: Central America and the Caribbean, the Southern Cone, and the Andean Region. This position is specifically assigned to the Andean Region. Within the IEN Division, you will be co-responsible for developing new business opportunities, leading client engagements in the sectors as well as engaging with the team based in Washington D.C. and throughout the region in structuring and executing new transactions in the Andean Region. What you'll do Support or Lead the origination, structuring, negotiation, approval, and closing of structured finance (project finance) or corporate lending for infrastructure projects. Maintain a constant dialogue with local partners such as infrastructure developers and investors, governmental and regulatory agencies (at the sovereign and sub-sovereign levels), public and private institutions in the financial markets, and industry associations in the infrastructure space, seeking to build new relationships to generate new business opportunities. Develop and promote the participation of local and international institutional investors in the financing of infrastructure projects in the Andean region by structuring credit enhancement products, and catalyzing funding resources from pension funds, insurance companies, asset managers, and family offices. As part of the overall structuring of highly developmental and risk-sound transactions, provide local insight during origination, initial screening, and overall structuring process, particularly on environmental, social, and corporate governance safeguards, development effectiveness, legal, risk, and integrity functions. Demonstrate IDBG's ability to collaborate with both the public and private sectors to offer the best solutions to clients and to catalyze financing for the growing demand for infrastructure. Interact with IDB teams in the Andean region to contribute to Governments and Authorities, ensuring that the applicable regulatory frameworks and national/regional infrastructure investment plans enable the structuring of financially viable and bankable projects. Actively liaise with the Portfolio Management Division and/or the Special Assets Division to assist in problematic or impaired projects within all the Infrastructure & Energy sectors and assist in the negotiation of potential restructurings as needed. Stay ahead of industry and regulation dynamics in the Andean region that could impact the Infrastructure & Energy sectors while sharing market intelligence across the sectors and within the IDBG, as needed. What you'll need Education: Master (or equivalent advanced degree) in Finance, Business Administration, Engineering, International Development, and/or other relevant fields. Academic specialization in infrastructure development and/or transaction management is desirable. Experience: You have at least 4+ years of relevant professional experience in loan origination and structuring complex structured finance (project finance) transactions with a validated track-record of working with a broad range of financial instruments and products (including equity and mezzanine). You have expertise working with domestic and international institutional investors. Understanding of client needs and challenges, market idiosyncrasies, and drivers of change in Latin America and the Caribbean would be highly valued. Confirmed experience in a similar role in an investment or advisory firm, bank, or infrastructure company would be desirable. Strong client relationship experience and skills are also highly valued. Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable. Requirements Citizenship: You are either a citizen of Colombia or Peru or possess a residency or legal permit to work in either of these countries without the need for sponsorship by IDB Invest. Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab. Type of contract and duration National staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
