A day in the life: The Head of Development oversees the web development division, through managing the people, as a coach, leader, mentor, problem-solver and do-er. While ensuring maintenance of the highest level of product quality across the team, they play a critical role in ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and within capabilities across the team. This person is the go-to for "escalation" related items as they pertain to clients and internal team members, jumping in to support, coach, do and mentor, while ensuring client retention, employee retention and product quality metrics remain healthy. Responsibilities: Escalation Support: Support team members and account teams to problem solve any challenges that may be present at an account and/or personnel level, including development tasks alongside account dev lead to coach and train, face to face time with clients, troubleshooting challenges, and ensuring sentiment returns to health before stepping out. Team Management: Manage the people and processes within the development team. Responsible for team organization, and ensuring that the team meets project goals and deadlines. Leadership and Coaching: Focus on developing team members' skills, fostering a collaborative and motivated work environment, and supporting their professional growth. Stakeholder Communication: Main point of contact between the development team and non-technical stakeholders, translating technical concepts into business terms and providing updates on project status. Scoping of New Projects: Properly scope new business opportunities with proper allocation around resource management and ideation, timelines and team capabilities. Performance Management: Conduct performance reviews, set goals, and provide feedback to team members, helping individuals align their work with broader organizational goals. Resource Allocation: Hire and allocate resources, both human and technical, to ensure projects are adequately staffed and supported, in coordination with Head of Operations. Role Requirements: Educational Background: A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. Technical Expertise: A strong technical background is advantageous for understanding and communicating with technical team members. Leadership and Management Skills: Strong leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills are crucial. New Business / Sales Experience: Experience scoping out new projects for net-new clients. Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Problem-Solving Abilities: Adept at identifying and solving problems during the development process. Strategic Thinking: Ability to align software development efforts with organizational goals. Business Acumen: Understanding how software development contributes to the company's objectives. Adaptability: Open to learning new technologies, tools, and methodologies. Experience: Previous experience in a technical leadership role, such as a team lead or senior developer. Language Proficiency: Bilingual- English and Spanish are required. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Account Retention of 75%: Account retention across accounts where escalation support is needed.
