The Head of Development oversees the web development division, managing the team as a coach, leader, mentor, problem-solver, and do-er.
They ensure the highest level of product quality across the team and play a critical role in completing projects on time, within budget, and within capabilities.
This person is the go-to for "escalation" related items as they pertain to clients and internal team members.
Responsibilities: Escalation Support: Support team members and account teams to problem solve challenges at an account and/or personnel level.
Team Management: Manage the people and processes within the development team, ensuring project goals and deadlines are met.
Leadership and Coaching: Develop team members' skills, fostering a collaborative and motivated work environment.
Stakeholder Communication: Main point of contact between the development team and non-technical stakeholders.
Scoping of New Projects: Properly scope new business opportunities with resource management and ideation.
Performance Management: Conduct performance reviews, set goals, and provide feedback to team members.
Resource Allocation: Hire and allocate resources to ensure projects are adequately staffed and supported.
Role Requirements: Educational Background: A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
Technical Expertise: A strong technical background to understand and communicate effectively with the technical team.
Leadership and Management Skills: Strong leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills.
New Business / Sales Experience: Experience scoping out new projects for net-new clients.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Problem-Solving Abilities: Adept at identifying and solving problems during the development process.
Strategic Thinking: Align software development efforts with organizational goals.
Business Acumen: Understanding the business context of software development.
Adaptability: Open to learning new technologies, tools, and methodologies.
Experience: Previous experience in a technical leadership role.
Language Proficiency: Bilingual- English and Spanish are required.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Account Retention of 75%: Retention across accounts where escalation support is needed.
Skill Development: Improvement in team members' technical skills over time.
