University Staff Description University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus Department: Anesthesiology Job Title: Grants & Contracts Coordinator (Open Rank: Intermediate - Senior) Position #00796104 - Requisition #32934 Job Summary: This Grants & Contracts Coordinator in the Department of Anesthesiology will support research faculty and staff by providing comprehensive financial management for all Anesthesia research programs (federal, industry, institutional, and departmental-sponsored projects) and providing support with grant submissions and contract execution.
Additional functions of this position will also include monitoring activities and preparing invoices; processing financial activities in CU systems; monthly reconciliations of expenditures and revenues on a per-project basis, and performing all other duties and tasks as required and/or assigned.
This position will be held accountable for providing high-level customer service to department research faculty, including providing monthly financial status reports.
Key Responsibilities: Assist with the pre-award submission process and post-award process by working with PIs to prepare and submit grant applications for basic science and clinical research, ensuring that all sponsor guidelines are met, as well as creating, maintaining, and updating manuals for all post-award processes. Facilitating the execution of contracts and sub-contracts and annual amendments of these contracts by assisting with the preparation of project-specific budgets, including proper application of F&A costs, preparing budgets including clinical trial budgets, and understanding negotiated budgets and terms, periodically reviewing study progress including patient enrollment information, and generating accurate and timely invoices to Sponsors as well as building and providing custom financial reports for sponsored projects to PIs, the DFA, and the Research Services Program Manager, and the Academic Administrative Director. Acting as liaison between the SOM Pre-Award Core and the department and the UCD Office of Grants and Contracts and the department. Working with PIs to route and submit non-competing continuous submissions of awards. Assist the post-award process by reviewing notice of grant award with PI making note of any special restrictions and establishing subcontracts with participating institutions. Assisting with grant related personnel functions as directed by the Research Services Program Manager, including establishing correct funding and effort of personnel for each sponsored project, making funding changes each month per payroll deadlines, and preparing retroactive payroll expense transfers. Perform other duties as assigned. Work Location: Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 3 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings (Aurora, CO).

Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Intermediate Professional: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Health Care Management, or a closely related field.
A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis. Senior Professional: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Health Care Management, or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications: Three (3) or more years of professional experience working in government, non-profit, and/or academic administration. Experience working with university software applications including m-Fin, CU Marketplace, and OnCore. Experience in pre- and post-award contracts and grant administration. Experience with clinical trial financial management. Experience interpreting and applying policies from multiple levels of authority (federal, state, and institutional) and serving as a resource for others. Experience with clinical studies calendar specifications and protocol/subject-related procedures. Experience using integrated accounting, purchasing, and payroll systems. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrated ability to prepare and present analytical assessments and reports, and to communicate professionally and effectively. Outstanding customer service skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment requiring administration of 75+ active research projects. Organizational skills and attention to detail are of the utmost importance. Time management skills with a demonstrated ability to self-manage priorities and be proactive in resolving issues. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality. Strong interpersonal skills and a high level of tact and diplomacy. Intermediate Level: $52,312 - $66,541
Senior Level: $56,554 - $71,936
