Responsibilities The Opportunity: The R&D Sr Specialist L8 will lead multiple End-to-End Product design and Process specification, managing all plant trials and accelerating initiatives for Innovation, Productivity, Technical Brand Stewardship, Business Continuity and Borderless projects – scope comprises all Foods platform (PC, TC, Extrusion, Pellets, Popcorn, Nuts and Seed, Grains, C&C) across South LatAm with focus on Andean Plants (Funza, Bogotá and Oriente, Medellin – Colombia, Santa Anita, Lima - Peru and Suyana, Quito – Equator).Lead a diverse portfolio of Profitability Optimization, Productivity and Business Continuity Projects, with increased focus in the Andean Region (currently with huge Commodity inflation issues and business requirement of Net Zero Inflation).The Sr R&D Specialist will work with the R&D Global Process and Product Functions teams to collaborate and partner to develop agile technical solutions and validation protocols, to deliver all projects, including line commissionings, critical equipment design such as ovens, fryers, popping, seasonings systems, among others.
FTE will be the Andean R&D Process and Product point of contact to support the Global Process Function team and Operations.The position will report directly to the LatAm Region R&D Director / Andean R&D Head and will manage critical information of the new products, processes, investments, and the future plans.Your Impact: As R&D Platforms Sr Scientist your responsibilities would consist of:
Lead technical solutions and process definitions for all Snacks Platforms (PC, TC, Extruded, Pellets, Popcorn, Nuts and Seeds, Natuchips), including Innovation pipeline, Productivity projects, Brand stewardship, Business continuity and Borderless agendas.Guarantee flawless and consistent execution of all R&D in-plant activities, critical for the projects deployment.Deploy both product design and process specifications, according to consumer research data and business strategy.Deploy Quality Upgrade initiatives for all Snacks Platforms, ensuring consumer centricity is top priority, by co-leading the Quality Assurance Program (E2E) together with the Technical Brand Stewardship Manager.Lead the R&D Technical Stage Gate, developing and delivering product solutions that are safe, legal and fit for purpose.Clearly communicate project status, risks, and scope creep with impact to all stakeholders, on a regular basis.Collaborate with other Project Managers, Solution Delivery, Plant Execution and GFGC to build and align on protocols to facilitate agility and improve R&D efficiencies and ways of working.Lift and shift regional core process taking into consideration global, regional and local requirements.Work effectively with multi-functional teams co-leading process stage gate, providing technical inputs to the team, aiming for the best solutions and defining the best path towards core process and technologies.Work together with the Engineering and Operations Teams on the definition of new center line equipment for new lines (like TC, new Kettle line, new Extrusion lines and new Comans), ensuring and validating the specification and product design.Ensure Global R&D Function alignment of the new core platform investments for Andean OU (Funza, Oriente, Santa Anita and Suyana Plants).Lead copacker process development, ensuring the appropriate equipment design and reviewing technical information.Ensure all R&D critical technical information are transferred to Funza, Oriente, Santa Anita and Suyana Plants (process manual, product spec, quality attributes and cleaning procedures), through the application of technical trainings to the multifunctional team.Build core platform process technical networking between Global and Regional R&D.Lead technical core platform process kick off and commissioning for new line and equipment across South LatAm, especially Andean OU.First R&D point of contact for core platform process support for operation across South LatAm, especially Andean OU.Participate with the Agro Team on the creation and execution of strategies to qualify and improve both Potato and Corn quality and yield.Partner with the Manufacturing team, especially Continuous Improvement Team, to deploy both productivity and true-efficiency improvement initiatives. Qualifications Who Are We Looking For? Bachelor in Engineering (Production, Chemistry, Food Science) or related disciplinesMaster or MBA desirable, not required.R&D experience (min 6 years) in food processing industry.Fluent writing and spoken 1) Spanish, 2) English, and 3) Portuguese (last one is desirable)Proven track record on Project Management skills.Excellent time management and prioritization skills, with minimum need of supervision.Ability to manage a multi-disciplinary team both at Funza Plant in Colombia and in a virtual and matrixed organization.Self-starter, self-motivated, demonstrate resilience while managing a multi-disciplinary team in a constantly volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous environment.Demonstrate thought leadership, strategic thinking, agility, proactiveness and good / balanced emotional intelligence.Results-oriented, ability to manage multiple projects and able to multi-task, while delivering with high quality standards.Demonstrate executive professional maturity, cultural sensitivity and flexibility in responding to different cultures across South LatAm Region, especially in Andean.Results oriented and able to balance competing priorities without losing momentum.Strong interpersonal skills with ability to communicate and negotiate effectively across all levels and functions.Strong technical and analytical skills to interpret complex data and distill into meaningful information.Good understanding of the food category business and application of core process technical and commercial knowledge during project execution.Cultural sensitivity / flexibility in responding to different cultures and environments.If this is an opportunity that interests you, we encourage you to apply even if you do not meet 100% of the requirements.
