Director, Volunteer Engagement DEPARTMENT: Peer-to-Peer DIRECT REPORT(S): n/a TRAVEL REQUIRED: Up to 15% LOCATION: Remote – East Coast Preferred TERM: Permanent Position SALARY: $80,000 - $90,000 THE ROLE Reporting to the Senior Director of Fundraising Strategy and Operations, the Director of Volunteer Engagement is an integral role within our peer-to-peer team. This position will develop and lead the overall volunteer engagement strategy for the organization, developing trust and engagement opportunities in the communities we serve, while strengthening the pipeline of supporters of our mission. The position will work with functional leaders across the organization to collaborate and identify opportunities to empower volunteers in support of Shatterproof's strategic goals. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Strategy and Program Development Rebuild and implement existing Shatterproof Ambassador Program, including a comprehensive training and recruitment strategy that will empower volunteers in fulfilling key deliverables of the organization's strategic plan. Regularly collaborate and communicate with organizational leadership to build and enhance overall volunteer strategy initiatives, building capacity for mission-driven impact. Create and align volunteer engagement metrics with organizational outcomes with focus on fundraising and community outreach initiatives. Provide strategic direction, oversight and training to Jr. Council, aligning engagement activities to organizational priorities, while developing metrics to measure impact and engagement. Develop comprehensive and scaled organizational volunteer engagement strategy inclusive of event volunteer recruitment, training, and cultivation; leadership volunteer engagement; general volunteer engagement; internship program. Identify, create, and leverage tools and resources in support of volunteer engagement initiatives, partnering with internal cross-functional partners and external vendors when needed. Oversee creation of and continuous improvement of training materials, toolkits and resources for volunteers and ambassadors, ensuring alignment with organization-wide volunteer engagement strategies and deliverables. Develop volunteer recognition program, identifying a framework and accompanying tools and resources to support appreciation efforts that will enhance volunteer retention and journey. Relationship Development and Management Maintain strong portfolio of key relationships including leadership volunteers, ambassadors, community organizations, and corporate volunteers. Implement relationship management strategies that build capacity through use of volunteers. Develop stewardship and cultivation journey for volunteers, leveraging and utilizing Salesforce best practices. Create and work in partnership with Sr. Director to initiate effective communication journeys for volunteers including, but not limited to email and broadcast text. In partnership with event leads, provide strategic, recruitment and engagement support with Walk committees. Leadership and Collaboration Effectively represent the organization's volunteer engagement strategy and vision to ensure it is incorporated into all aspects of volunteer work. Collaborate and engage with cross-functional stakeholders to support and advance volunteer engagement strategies, understanding their work and the unique opportunities to engage volunteers. Seek regular insights and feedback from organizational leadership to evaluate, enhance, and improve overall volunteer engagement strategies and ambassador alignment to organizational strategies. Promote volunteer engagement programs, tools and resources to cross-functional staff resulting in deeper engagement and impact of volunteers on their work. Data and Analytics Collect, analyze and share volunteer impact metrics to inform continuous improvement efforts and track alignment with organizational goals. Implement data-driven insights in program efficiency, ambassador confidence, and volunteer engagement strategies. Maintain accurate and complete records of all volunteers. EDUCATION/COMPETENCIES/EXPERIENCE Bachelor's Degree Required. An unparalleled commitment to raising awareness for drug and alcohol addiction in America. 5-7 years of professional experience in volunteer engagement, volunteer recruitment and training, and community engagement. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Action-oriented, adaptable and excellent relationship-building skills. Driven with a positive attitude and strong work ethic. Ability to work and make judgments independently and take initiative. An entrepreneurial spirit who thrives in a fast-paced organization. Ability to organize time effectively and manage a large number of tasks simultaneously. Initiative and independence, combined with the ability to work well as part of a team. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact professionally with variety of constituencies. Excellent verbal and written skills, creativity, independent judgment, attention to detail, accuracy, strong editing skills, and follow-through. Competency in software including Salesforce, DonorDrive or other P2P platforms. Ability to travel as needed for meetings and events. Must be able to work occasional nights and weekends as needed to support events. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $90,000.
