Title and Summary Director, Accounting Overview: The Director, Accounting, reporting to the VP, Accounting, supports the Corporate Controllership team in Purchase, NY. This role is crucial for maintaining the integrity of financial statements by performing key procedures and managing a team that supports Treasury Controllership, Rebates & Incentives, Financial Reporting, and Products & Services Controllership. Additionally, this individual acts as an advisor and liaison between Corporate Controllers, SOX, ESG, Treasury, Internal Audit, Tax, Legal, and Shared Service groups. Role: Oversee preparation of key procedures to monthly and quarterly close to support the Corporate Financial Reporting team. Assist with research of moderate to complex issues, including interpretation of accounting guidance and provide Corporate team with recommendations that are in compliance with US GAAP. Lead and oversee compliance activities, as needed (e.g., Mastercard policies, Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX), and Operational Risk Management (ORM)) and communicate potential exposures to leadership. Liaise with Regional Controllers on global initiatives to ensure consistency and accuracy in all regions. Periodic review of processes to ensure operationally mitigating risks based on design and the evolution of business processes. Identify opportunities to implement automated solutions to streamline processes. Partner with the finance operations team to ensure front-end and back-end controls are implemented to mitigate key risks. Ensure that company accounting policies are properly maintained and updated or established when necessary. Work closely with the Corporate Controllership team in Purchase, NY, and other regional and global teams to ensure seamless coordination. Ensure that strong financial controls are implemented and functioning as expected across the organization. Oversee the preparation of accounting memos, documentation, and analysis, as needed. Complete special requests for analysis, research, and detailed information, including other projects deemed necessary from time to time by Management. The special requests may include researching, consulting, and reviewing technical memorandums on proposed and/or completed transactions. All About You: Fluent in English. Degree in Accounting; Certification as CPA or equivalent is required. Recognized as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on complex technical matters, with strong communication and financial acumen. Experienced in assessing financial control implementation and ensuring compliance within diverse organizations. Proven track record in managing and resolving high-risk issues efficiently. Confident influencer with analytical and leadership skills, adept at building collaborative relationships at various levels. Experience building collaborative working relationships with stakeholders at the global/regional, local, or corporate level. Strong knowledge in US & International Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Excellent project management and interpersonal skills. Successfully drive and integrate change and cultivate a continuous improvement culture. Capable of working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines with high attention to detail. Prior experience in a Big 4 accounting firm and public company environment is a plus. Proficient PC skills, especially Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Hyperion & Oracle a plus. Market and industry knowledge is a strong plus.
