Purpose Contributes to the overall success of the Mainframe & Db2 Database Services in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. Accountabilities Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge. Partners with solution architects, application developers, and support teams. Supports application releases, Db infrastructure, answers all developer questions, release manager, production deliveries. Provides Db2 Administrative services to application development team. Designs/develops/tests/supports Db2 LUW database. Plans, designs, develops, tests, and supports database systems. Performs regular database work and maintenance, such as storage management, import, export, load, access control, etc. Provides technical analysis and recommendations. System performance tuning and troubleshooting. SQL performance tuning. Scripting daily tasks. Understands how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions. Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk. Must-to-have: 3+ years of technical working experience as a Db2 LUW DBA supporting development/QA/non-functional testing/production environments within the Financial Industries. 5+ years Hands-on Experience of Db2 HADR (High availability disaster recovery). 5+ years SQL Program Language Experience – as team also does development work. Excellent Presentation Skills – able to translate technical standards/practices to customer. Desire to keep up with new technology innovations. Team player.
