About Panthera Corporation Founded in 2006, Panthera is devoted to the conservation of the world's 40 species of wild cats and the vast ecosystems they inhabit. Our team of biologists, data scientists, law enforcement experts and wild cat advocates studies and protects the seven species of big cats: cheetahs, jaguars, leopards, lions, pumas, snow leopards and tigers. Panthera also creates targeted conservation strategies for the world's most threatened and overlooked small cats. With our supporters around the world, we inform the public about the plight of wild cats, help local communities live in harmony with wild cats, protect wild cats and their prey from poaching, fight the illegal wildlife trade and safeguard the precious landscapes wild cats need to survive. Reports to: Coexistence Conflict and Counter Wildlife Crime Coordinator for Colombia Panthera Division: Conservation Action Geographic Scope: Colombia and Ecuador Position Type : Full-Time Overview The Counter Wildlife Crime (CWC) Project Assistant will support Panthera's efforts to counter wildlife crime and contribute to the preservation of wild felids in Colombia and Ecuador in general. The successful candidate will work closely with the Colombia team to develop activities concerning the project. Develop training and sensitization materials to support activities in the project area; Provide logistical support for Counter Wildlife Trafficking (CWT) meetings, training events and workshops, including the collection and presentation of information for Leahy Vetting, research in Colombia and Ecuador and other donor specific requirements; Assist in the development of pre- and post-event documentation, including training materials, participant questionnaires, metrics log and any other relevant materials, in order to accurately and efficiently report to donors and stakeholders on the achievement of objectives; Support the development of capability assessments, risk assessments and threat assessments; Support project and donor reporting requirements; Potential for conducting limited field data collection including interviews with community members at the discretion of CWT project technical lead and regional management; Support other field activities required under Panthera's strategic plan and; Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Direct Manager that are related to the purpose of the position. Qualifications, experience and personality traits Bachelor's degree in Biology, Veterinary Doctor, Veterinary Zoo technician, Anthropologist or a related discipline; Minimum 1 year of experience in work related to illegal wildlife trafficking; Excellent written and verbal skills in Spanish; Strong computer skills, including experience with spreadsheets; Exceptional interpersonal, communication skills and a passion for interacting with people; Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences; Willingness and ability to spend extended periods in field conditions; Organizational and time management skills; Ability to adapt and work in a multicultural team; It is desirable to have worked in Ecuador and Magdalena Medio Colombiano and; Availability to travel in Ecuador and Colombia.
