About the Role: We are seeking a talented and motivated Commercial Contracts Legal Associate who is best in class with a high IQ plus a high EQ. The ideal candidate will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts. This role requires a solid understanding of contract law, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to work closely with various departments to ensure contractual obligations are met and risks are minimized. What You'll Do: Drafting of Contracts: Prepare, review, and finalize a variety of commercial contracts, including supply agreements, customer agreements, non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), licensing agreements, and partnership agreements. Negotiation of Contracts: Negotiate the commercial terms and conditions with Sezzle's clients and partners and ensure proper finalization for signatures. Legal Compliance: Ensure that all contracts comply with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies. Provide guidance on legal issues related to contracts and advise on potential risks. Contract Management: Maintain and manage the contract database, ensuring that all contracts are up-to-date, properly filed, and easily accessible. Monitor key contract milestones and renewal dates. Risk Assessment: Identify and assess potential risks in contract terms and conditions, and propose appropriate mitigation strategies. Work closely with the Risk Management team to align on risk tolerance and management. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with internal departments, including Sales, Finance, Procurement, and Operations, to ensure that contract terms meet business needs and objectives. Dispute Resolution: Assist in resolving any disputes that may arise from contractual agreements, working closely with external counsel if necessary. Legal Research: Conduct legal research on issues related to contracts and provide actionable insights to support decision-making. Training and Development: Provide training to internal stakeholders on contract-related matters, including best practices in contract management and negotiation techniques. What We Look For: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school 2-4 years of experience in commercial contract law, majority of experience in a corporate or in-house legal environment. Certification in contract management is a plus. Strong understanding of contract law Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously. High attention to detail and strong analytical skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Experience in the fintech or e-commerce industry is a plus.
