Position: Colombia Legal Assistant for Counter Wildlife Crime (CWC) Reports to: Coexistence Conflict and Counter Wildlife Crime Coordinator: Colombia Panthera Division: Conservation Action Geographic Scope: Colombia Duty Station: Bogota, Colombia Position Type: Consulting Agreement Remuneration: USD 18000 – USD 20000 per annum dependent on experience and qualifications Overview Panthera's CWC program provides technical expertise and strategic input to regional teams across Asia, Africa and the Americas. The Colombia Legal Assistant for Counter Wildlife Crime (CWC) will report to the Coexistence Conflict and Counter Wildlife Crime Coordinator: Colombia and will work closely with regional staff and Panthera's global CWC team to counter the diverse threats facing wild cats. The Legal Assistant will provide support with all legal issues related to wildlife crime. He/she will be a liaison between Police, Prosecutor's Office and Panthera in the activities concerning the project. Support the Prosecutor's Office and Dicar Police in the review of cases related to wildlife trafficking, especially felid trafficking; Prepare monthly reports detailing the cases related to the project; Serve as liaison between the different entities such as the Police, Prosecutor's Office and Panthera; Provide legal advice on all wildlife crime issues that may be required; Perform other duties as assigned by the Coordinator and related to the purpose of the position. Required Traits, Skills & Experience Bachelor's degree in Law; Minimum 2 years of experience in criminal matters; Experience of more than one year working at the Fiscalia General de la Nacion (FGN), and Grupo Especial para la Lucha Contra el Maltrato Animal (GELMA) and Environmental Crimes unit; Experience working in the Defensoria del Pueblo; Experience working as a representative of the Secretaria Distrital de Ambiente in criminal matters; Excellent written and verbal skills in Spanish, fluency in verbal and written English is highly advantageous; Strong interpersonal and communication skills; Ability to communicate effectively with different audiences; Well developed organizational and time management skills; Ability to adapt and work in a multicultural team.
