Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled PCB Design Engineer to join our dynamic team in Houston. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in designing printed circuit boards (PCBs) for industrial applications, particularly in the field of remote-operated equipment. This role is critical in advancing our product capabilities and delivering innovative solutions to our customers. Key Responsibilities: PCB Design and Development: Design, develop, and test PCB layouts for embedded systems used in industrial remote-operated equipment. Create schematics and multi-layer PCB layouts using industry-standard software (e.g., Altium Designer, Eagle, KiCad). Collaborate with hardware and firmware engineers to optimize PCB designs for performance, manufacturability, and cost. Component Selection and Integration: Select appropriate electronic components based on design requirements, availability, and cost considerations. Ensure proper integration of microcontrollers, sensors, communication modules, and power management circuits. Prototyping and Testing: Build and test prototypes to validate PCB designs. Conduct signal integrity analysis, thermal analysis, and EMC/EMI testing. Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to PCB functionality or reliability. Documentation and Compliance: Prepare detailed documentation, including schematics, BOMs (Bill of Materials), assembly drawings, and test procedures. Ensure designs comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., IPC standards, UL certifications). Manufacturing Support: Work closely with manufacturing partners to oversee PCB fabrication and assembly processes. Provide support during production runs to address any design-related issues. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest advancements in PCB design technologies and methodologies. Implement best practices to enhance design efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product performance. Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, software developers, and project managers, to ensure seamless integration of PCBs into products. Participate in design reviews and contribute to system-level design decisions. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in PCB design engineering. Proven experience designing PCBs for embedded systems and industrial applications. Familiarity with designing for harsh environments and industrial standards. Technical Skills: Proficient in PCB design software (e.g., Altium Designer, Eagle, KiCad). Strong understanding of analog and digital circuit design. Experience with high-speed digital design, signal integrity, and power supply design. Knowledge of EMC/EMI considerations and mitigation techniques. Familiarity with microcontrollers, microprocessors, and communication interfaces (e.g., Ethernet, CAN bus, SPI, I2C). Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Other Requirements: Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
