GENERAL INFORMATION Subnational technical assistance to strengthen capacities in bioeconomy (Chocó) Project: CO038 Just Rural Transition in Colombia Duty Station: Virtual - Presential/Chocó (Quibdó- Chocó) Contract Duration: November 2024 - August 2026 Consultant: Level 2 Total Fees: Up to USD 30,000 OBJECTIVES OF THE ASSIGNMENT The objective of this consultancy is to provide technical support to GGGI and the Chocó Governorate, promoting coordination among regional inter-institutional bodies involved in bioeconomy initiatives including assistance in developing measures and tasks related to the implementation of existing bioeconomy programs and strategies.
DELIVERABLES AND PAYMENT SCHEDULE The subnational bioeconomy consultant for Chocó will support the activities developed by the Bio Rural and Chocó Governorate teams, helping to update the databases, making reports and analyses for various products, and supporting the logistics, meetings, and communications activities.
Scope of Work: Support the management of information integrated with databases regarding green businesses and companies with the potential to scale the biodiversity business, enabling market conditions. Collaborate with the monitoring and technical assistance of the MAPBIO Plus, Bioeconomy Rural Hub, and capacity development programs within the Bio Rural project. Support the activities related to promoting coordination among national and subnational inter-institutional bodies involved in bioeconomy initiatives Technical reports of measures and tasks related to the implementation of existing bioeconomy programs and strategies in the Chocó Department. Support the update of a template or form for identifying milestones and the impact of the public and private bioeconomy of existing projects in Chocó. Provide cost-cutting support by attending meetings, drafting emails, providing technical input for discussions, leveraging impact, and creating stakeholder engagement. Crosscutting activities: Develop PowerPoint presentations and concept notes as requested by senior team members Liaise with country teams and other external project partners Develop communication, marketing, and knowledge material documenting GGGI experience and track record. Participate in project-related meetings and calls and elaborate meeting minutes, agendas, and presentations. Contribute to organizing and coordinating capacity-building workshops, webinars, and events (virtual and presential) with different partners in Colombia. Provide technical inputs for project reporting: Support the Bio Rural project in compiling the technical insights, evidence, and information for donor and GGGI reporting in a timely manner. Ensure the high quality of the narrative and technical evidence for donor and GGGI reporting schemes. Reporting Arrangements The subnational bioeconomy consultant reports to the Bioeconomy Associate. The consultant's work progress will be monitored primarily through periodic review meetings for planning and weekly short face-to-face (or virtual) meetings for prioritizing activities, all of that previous consensus with the Contract Supervisor. In this review, meetings will tackle subjects such as the overview of the contractual objectives, the development of activities, detailed information milestones, actual achievements made against the timeline initially set, and any other relevant progress details. Deliverables will be produced in Spanish or English, by GGGI's formatting requirements, and submitted with proof of editable file back-up (e.g., .docx, .pptx) in the GGGI SharePoint system. Additionally, the consultant will deliver one monthly brief in English explaining the activities developed the month before and for any other deliverable, if so requested by the Project Manager. Where relevant, the consultant shall also provide raw data sets, research materials, and meeting notes related to the contractual objective. EXPERTISE REQUIRED (MANDATORY) Degree in Economy, Business Administration, Forestry Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management, Jurisprudence, Biology, Life Sciences, or related fields. (MANDATORY) Four (04) years of professional experience in bioeconomy-related areas, biodiversity, policy-making process, and environmental sector/business, among other related topics. (DESIRABLE) A postgraduate degree in public policy, finance, economy, environmental management, sustainability, or other bioeconomy-related fields. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) Exceptional analytical and quantitative skills; capacity for synthesis, presentation, and communication; and strategic thinking skills. Organized with excellent time management. Proven ability to work with teams and collaborate. Ability to work well under pressure and have a flexible approach to tasks.
